A beautiful experience in the beautiful Val Variata in this winter with little snowfall even in the mountains. A trip to Venasca for a bread from a wood-fired oven from times gone by, asking the lady at the shop to show us a typical trattoria where we can have lunch and perhaps find traditional dishes. He shows us the nearby family-run tavern a few km away with sincere and honest cuisine. We can easily find the trattoria on the edge of the provincial road at the entrance to the town of wood and Val Varaita style furniture, the classic trattoria with dehors for the hot season and for holidays. Busy restaurant, the young co-owner with kindness and friendliness immediately finds us a table. The atmosphere of the restaurant is beautiful with few cell phones and simple people who prefer to talk with those near the table about wine, dishes, wine, places and more. An oral menu with two or three variations to keep diners happy. A simple cold cut with delicious mountain bread, two first courses, delicious polenta with cheese or risotto with pumpkin and sausage, for the second courses a fantastic, very tender, tasty and golden Milanese steak and a tasty roast pork with a side of carrots that took us back to our grandmother's, delicious ones, a choice between a delicious apple pie and the classic Madernassa pear and chocolate cake typical of southern Piedmont. A good coffee and a half liter of honest and sincere house red. An attentive, kind and friendly service with an authentic and warm welcome. The bill was an absolute surprise, 25.00 euros for two people. We happily left the rest to these two fantastic guys and we couldn't leave the place without personally thanking the great cook. How beautiful is the simplicity and honest local cuisine. We can't wait to return to enjoy this heartfelt cuisine. Super recommended for those looking for authentic and simple local cuisine in a typical environment with cleanliness and attention to customers.
